LAUREN IS MISSING
Feature Film
After The Mountain, The River and The Road, I wanted to try something smaller in scale but bigger in imagination. Inspired by Bergman’s Persona, Polanski’s The Tennant and Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I thought it would be fun to combine an indie drama with horror. I collaborated on the story with my partner Kirsten, and she wrote the screenplay. I directed, edited and created motion graphics for the film. The result is an oddball piece of psychotronic filmmaking about identity and alienation fittingly didn’t quite find its audience. I’m still extremely proud of the result. It’s funny, sweet, strange, and personal. And despite getting trashed by David Schmader in The Stranger, it’s one of the few films I’ve made that I actually enjoy watching.
